GWO1002

This GWO module focuses on access and egress considerations of a wind turbine environment. Participants receive the necessary knowledge and skills through theory and practical exercises to use PPE, perform work safely at height and complete basic educations and rescues at height. This course is GWO accredited.

 

CONTENT:

Hazards and risks associated with working at height, specific to the environment
Current national legislation regarding work at heights
Identification of PPE (including identification of all legislated labeling and markings)
Inspection, maintenance, storage, and donning PPE
First principles (correct use) of PPE, ID anchor points, ladder conduct
Use of evacuation devices

Rescue situations and rescue equipment

 

DURATION:

Sixteen (16) Hours

 

Location:

Groton Training Center, CT or client site

 

AGE REQUIREMENTS:

Participants must be a minimum of 18 years of age for full participation and certification. Participants under the age of 18 require parental consent.

PREREQUISITES:

Participants are expected to be in a good state of health and physically capable of fully taking part in all course activities. Participants are subjected to rigorous activity. The working at heights program will include climbing up a ladder or side of tower, working at an elevated platform, and egressing from a height using rescue devices.

 

Students are required to bring work boots and a photo ID. All other equipment will be provided.

 

SCHEDULING:

Courses are scheduled on a rolling basis. Training calendar seats are booked on a first come, first serve basis.​

 

CERTIFICATION:

All participants who complete the program in accordance with the learning and performance objectives receive a course completion certificate and GWO (WINDA) credit.

 

ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS:

​This course comprises one of the four required GWO modules to complete the GWO 1005 Basic Safety Training Certification. Other courses within the GWO BST-1005 program include: Medic First Aid + Trauma at Height (FA 2002), Manual Handling (MH 102), and Fire Awareness (FAW 101).
