GWO2002

This GWO module focuses on administering safe and effective first aid in a wind turbine environment that will ensure participants have an understanding of general health and safety responsibilities of employers and employees, incident, injury, and illness detection and mitigation, hazards and risks in the workplace, and emergency first aid procedures and safety instructions. This course is GWO accredited.

 

CONTENT:

First Aid in a safe and sound manner, in accordance with legislative requirements
Normal function, signs and symptoms of serious or minor injuries and illness
Order of management in an emergency situation in a wind turbine environment

First Aid within primary assessment principles (ABC’s)
Use of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED)
First Aid under secondary assessment principles
First Aid equipment within First Aid scenarios

 

DURATION:

Sixteen (16) Hours

 

LOCATION:

Groton Training Center, CT or client site

 

AGE REQUIREMENTS:

Participants must be a minimum of 18 years of age for full participation and certification. Participants under the age of 18 require parental consent.

PREREQUISITES:

Participants are expected to be in a good state of health and physically capable of fully taking part in all course activities. Participants are subjected to rigorous activity. The working at heights program will include climbing up a ladder or side of tower, working at an elevated platform, and egressing from a height using rescue devices.

 

Students are required to bring work boots and a photo ID. All other equipment will be provided.

 

SCHEDULING:

Courses are scheduled on a rolling basis. Training calendar seats are booked on a first come, first serve basis.​

 

CERTIFICATION:

All participants who complete the program in accordance with the learning and performance objectives receive a course completion certificate and GWO (WINDA) credit.

 

ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS:

​This course comprises one of the four required GWO modules to complete the GWO 1005 Basic Safety Training Certification. Other courses within the GWO BST-1005 program include: Work at Height (WAH 1002), Manual Handling (MH 102), and Fire Awareness (FAW 101).
